Check it Out: Brave New Home is Pfister’s Featured Interior Design Blog of the week! I see a giveaway in your near future…. ; ]
This week seems to be all about West Elm and mood boards, now doesn’t it? I received newsletters from West Elm and Olioboard announcing the The West Elm Pattern Palette Design Contest. I didn’t think too much of it (how many newsletters do you skim through and delete a day?) but then I noticed Beth of Home Stories A to Z, a blog I frequent and link up to, was the judge! Things are really taking off for Beth (she was featured in this month’s Better Homes and Garden!) and to support a fellow blogger’s endeavors I decided to give it a go. The West Elm gift certificate prize had nothing to do with it. Well, maybe a little.
I had never used Oilioboard before and was secretly hoping I wouldn’t fall in love with it (like Pinterest) lest it become a time suck. I had a lot of fun! How much fun? Let’s just say I created four different mood boards for a challenge that only required one…My first and favorite mood board was one I with an urban casual feel. I found out after entering the contest that you can edit out those white bits (like the ones found around the green chair). Ah well—there’s always next time!
My second mood board with an updated retro theme was inspired by the colorful wallpaper. My modern glam mood board took off around the sparkly chandelier. This one is the most out-of-my-element for me but it was fun creating it and flexing my design muscles. My last blue and white casual mood board is also a little of outside my design tastes but came together the most easily. I think it’s also more of an expected theme whereas with the others I was trying to push the envelope a bit. There are lots of interesting backgrounds to try at Olioboard—I was just enamored by this white loft with exposed wood beams : ]
Have you use Olioboard before? Did you also enter the contest? Which of my boards is your personal favorite?
