Merry Mantel

Alas, our home is mantel-less.  I do have a little half moon table at the top of our stairs that I dress seasonally.  It’s my little wannabe mantel if you will : ] half moon table decorated for ChristmasNo matter what time of day, the top of the stairs is notorious for having horrible lighting (and how difficult is it to set up a tripod on the stairs?) so for the purpose of this photo shoot, I moved my little table to a sunnier spot.  I may be one for decorating and aesthetics but I don’t regularly build vignettes on the back of doors :Pmerry mantle vignetteBooks make wonderful vignette builders no matter what time of year!doll and jute treeMy mom gave me this little doll which reads in German, I’m here for you, and I made this little tree by covering a styrofoam form with jute.  merry mantle from topI picked up the tree from Ikea last year.  Mini trees are just so fun to dress up!jute wrapped mini ornaments and felt garlandI created the garland with yarn and glued on felt circles.  The mini-ornaments were originally red but I hot glued some jute to them for a more natural look.

If your home is mantel-less like ours, where do you create your mantle vignettes?

  1. Super cute Jen! We have a mantel this year for the first time, but haven’t really gotten the hang of it yet. Your little table has inspired me! I also love the books. I will have to add some of those to my decor. Hope you have a great holiday!

    • Thanks, Bree, you too! I believe this is our first holiday together as a married couple. Enjoy : ] I remember how special it is.

  2. I love this, it’s so simple and pretty! I love all the textures you have going on.

And I know how you feel! As you know, my home is also mantle-less and it’s so frustrating! I just created my own vignette on a console table and dressed up a wall with some branches and leftover xmas decorations. We need to get crafty with our small spaces! :)

  3. Love it. How did I miss that blue table? Don’t remember seeing it before? I’m planning on doing a similar garland this year.

Love your little wannabe mantle! And of course your little German angel doll too. My daughter has a little “Schutzengel” from Germany ;)

  5. I think that’s looking pretty good for a faux mantel! Hellooooo fantel! : )

  6. Aw, I love the little Christmas tree!
